‘The Edge of Silence’ Original Acrylic Hare Painting on Vintage Reclaimed Saw

‘The Edge of Silence’ is an original acrylic painting of a hare, created by British wildlife artist Liisa Clark on a reclaimed vintage hand saw.
The painting was inspired after reading Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton, a beautiful account of an unexpected relationship with a wild hare. The book’s quiet observation of the natural world, and of a creature allowed to remain entirely wild, stayed with me long after I had finished reading.
That sense of stillness and watchfulness became the starting point for The Edge of Silence.
The hare emerges from a soft, atmospheric background of muted greys and greens, its alert expression, luminous eye and delicate whiskers captured in fine detail. Rather than painting onto a conventional canvas, I chose a reclaimed vintage saw, allowing its worn metal, original teeth and aged wooden handle to remain part of the finished artwork.
There is something particularly fitting about placing such a quiet, living creature onto an object bearing the marks of another life. The contrast between the softness of fur and the hard, weathered metal gives the painting a character that could never be recreated on a pristine surface.
Measuring approximately 16 x 58 cm, The Edge of Silence is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, created for collectors of British wildlife art, natural history and unusual art made on reclaimed objects.
