‘Jeremy’ is an original acrylic crow painting created on an artist’s wooden palette – the very surface where I mix my paints and begin all of my artworks. By painting directly onto this palette, I invite the viewer into the hidden world of process and creation, blurring the line between tool and finished art.
At the heart of the piece sits a striking black crow, inspired by Jeremy, the mischievous crow from the beloved novel Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, who was famously obsessed with shiny treasures. True to his character, the crow is set against shimmering silver leaf that spills beyond the palette and dances across the black wooden frame, catching the light like moonlight on feathers.
