Things Left Behind is an original acrylic painting on a reclaimed cherry wood trinket box.
Crow skulls are often overlooked, yet they tell the story of a life lived and remind us that death is as much a part of nature as life itself. This piece invites us to pause, look more closely and discover the beauty that can be found in what remains.
Painted onto reclaimed cherry wood, the natural character of the timber becomes part of the artwork, giving new purpose to an object with a history of its own. The sliding lid reveals a soft baize-lined compartment, creating a place to keep small treasures, keepsakes or other meaningful objects.
Like all of my work, Things Left Behind is inspired by the belief that the natural world rewards those who take the time to look more closely.
Every original artwork is individually hand painted by wildlife artist Liisa Clark in her Buckinghamshire studio, inspired by a lifelong fascination with the natural world.
